As the search for the murderer heats up, their hearts become entangled and their lives at risk, forcing Emily and Justin to work together to find the killer before they strike again. 

Between The Pages 

This edge-of-your-seat mystery was an interesting read. The author has a great voice for spinning twists and turns into a suspenseful story. With so many possible suspects, the reader wonders who could be the killer and when they will strike again. The plot around the equestrian world was enjoyable, and the author is very knowledgeable in this ring. Justin was a great hero and the perfect person to step into Emily’s life. The banter between Justin, and his partner, Dennis was fun. Lottie was also a great and feisty secondary character. While the author did a good job on the sensitive subject of addiction, a mention should have been added of professional help to assist and maintain the character’s sobriety. But overall, this mystery was a page-turning read.

All Darrell Henshaw wanted was to enjoy his honeymoon with his beautiful wife, Erin, in the charming town of Crystal River on the sunny Gulf Coast of Florida. Only a pair of ghosts decide to intrude on their celebration. And not just any ghosts, the spirits of two young Latino children. Unwilling at first to derail the honeymoon for yet another ghost hunt, Darrell finally concedes when a painting of the kids comes alive, weeping and pleading for his help. 

When he and Erin track down the artist, they discover the children’s family were migrant workers the next county over. But when they travel there, their questions about the kids gets their car shot up and Erin hospitalized. Torn between fear and rage, Darrell must decide how far he will go to get justice for two young children he never even knew. 

Between The Pages 

Scarlet at Crystal River is the third book in The Haunted Shores Mysteries and is now my favourite from the trilogy. The author pours raw emotion from his main characters, the setting, and plot. The read is gripping from start to finish as Darrell is pulled into another ghostly mystery while trying to enjoy his honeymoon with Erin. The bond and strength this couple have deserves a round of applause. They are the prefect duo. I enjoyed watching Darrell deal with his OCD tendencies and Erin supporting him. The mystery is engaging as it twists into culture discrimination. Luis was a welcomed secondary character, as were the sightings of the two ghostly children. If you like paranormal ghostly encounters, mystery, and suspense, I highly recommend picking up this book.
