Hallmark takes inspiration from Dickens in Christmas Above the Clouds, a modern holiday tale with a corporate twist. Erin Krakow stars as a workaholic CEO who tries to escape the season with a business trip to Australia, only to be confronted by spirits of Christmas past, present, and future. Along the way, an unexpected reunion with her ex-boyfriend forces her to reconsider the choices that have shaped her life.
The story offers a fresh spin by placing a female lead at the center of the transformation, and Krakow brings warmth and relatability to the role. The journey through her regrets and hopes is predictable yet still engaging enough to carry the narrative.
Tyler Hynes, a fan-favorite leading man, adds charm to the film. Though his role is disappointingly limited, his presence elevates the scenes he’s in, but viewers may wish for more of his trademark charisma. The supporting cast and holiday setting round out the story, keeping the film light and festive.
While it doesn’t break new ground, Christmas Above the Clouds succeeds as a cozy seasonal watch.
