Between The Pages - Falcon of the Faroe Islands

Falcon of the Faroe Islands
Jennifer Ivy Walker
December 2025

Haldor Falk, fierce warrior and powerful vitki blessed by the Goddess Freyja with the extraordinary ability to transform into a falcon, has been charged with forging Skjöld, grandson of King Harald Bluetooth, into a rugged warlord in the wild north of Norway.

With his acolyte’s training now complete, Haldor intends to return to the Viking stronghold of Normandy. But when a vision reveals an imminent attack on a dwarf guarding a hidden treasure trove in a secret cave, Haldor and Skjöld gain Dwarven-forged weapons and an unexpected, invaluable ally.

Úlvhild, a völva of formidable seiðr magic and Haldor’s lover of nearly twenty winters, foresees that the Dökkálfar Dark Elves will strike to prevent the fulfillment of a prophecy. When the Norns unveil the terrible price of her fate, Úlvhild must confront a crimson-eyed witch to save her beloved Falcon and ensure that the prophesied Son of the Dragon fulfills his destined path.

Between The Pages
Falcon of the Faroe Islands delivers a sweeping and immersive conclusion to this Norse inspired trilogy. The novel is rich with threads of love, loyalty, and sacrifice that anchor the story and give it emotional weight. Rather than center on a single romance, the book explores several love stories that unfold across its pages. At the heart, Haldor Falk and Úlvhild remain a compelling element. Skjöld, the son of Skarde from book one, emerges as his journey toward becoming a formidable warrior is matched by his discovery of a destined love, adding another layer of depth to the narrative. The author’s command of the historical period is evident throughout. The worldbuilding feels both authentic and vividly imagined, placing the reader within the setting, capturing the grit of battle, the pulse of magic, and the quiet moments of fate unfolding. At its core, the story contends with the timeless struggle between good and evil. In a current world where conflict and darkness often dominate headlines, Falcon of the Faroe Islands offers a resonant reminder that courage endures, love persists, and destiny can still bend toward the light. A satisfying and meaningful finale to the trilogy.

Moments On Film - A Grand Ole Opry Christmas

A Grand Ole Opry Christmas
Hallmark
Starring: Nikki DeLoach & Kristoffer Polaha

Emotional, sweet, and timeless. Nikki’s voice and heartfelt journey make this a holiday movie standout.

Hallmark blends music, memory, and holiday magic in A Grand Ole Opry Christmas. When the daughter of a late country music icon is invited to represent him at the Opry’s Christmas celebration, she struggles with returning to a place so deeply tied to her family’s legacy. But when she’s unexpectedly transported back to 1995, the height of her father’s career, she gains the chance to see him again and understand the legacy she’s been questioning for decades.

This film is a standout not simply for its country music backdrop, but for its emotional core. Nikki DeLoach is luminous in the lead role, delivering both vulnerability and strength. Her singing voice is beautiful, adding authenticity and depth to the performance. Kristoffer Polaha complements her beautifully, bringing warmth and sincerity as the leading man. Their chemistry feels natural and believable, grounding the story in genuine emotion.

The highlight of the movie lies in the time-travel element. The chance for Nikki’s character to reconnect with her father. These scenes are tender, poignant, and deeply moving, resonating with anyone who has longed for one more moment with a loved one. The Opry setting adds charm and atmosphere, but it’s the emotional journey that makes this film unforgettable.

A Grand Ole Opry Christmas is more than a holiday romance, it’s a heartfelt exploration of family, legacy, and the timeless bonds of love.

Moments On Film - Christmas Above the Clouds

Christmas Above the Clouds
Hallmark
Starring: Erin Krakow & Tyler Hynes

A modern Scrooge tale with heart. Erin shines and Tyler charms.

Hallmark takes inspiration from Dickens in Christmas Above the Clouds, a modern holiday tale with a corporate twist. Erin Krakow stars as a workaholic CEO who tries to escape the season with a business trip to Australia, only to be confronted by spirits of Christmas past, present, and future. Along the way, an unexpected reunion with her ex-boyfriend forces her to reconsider the choices that have shaped her life.

The story offers a fresh spin by placing a female lead at the center of the transformation, and Krakow brings warmth and relatability to the role. The journey through her regrets and hopes is predictable yet still engaging enough to carry the narrative. Tyler Hynes, a fan-favorite leading man, adds charm to the film. Though his role is disappointingly limited, his presence elevates the scenes he’s in, but viewers may wish for more of his trademark charisma. The supporting cast and holiday setting round out the story, keeping the film light and festive.

While it doesn’t break new ground, Christmas Above the Clouds succeeds as a cozy seasonal watch.

Carefree Caleb Sloan is just a distraction—even if he is surprisingly helpful. Their chemistry feels authentic, and the author’s ability to weave humor, heart, and vulnerability into their interactions makes the story both compelling and relatable. The author skillfully balances themes of family, second chances, and community. The book also serves as a satisfying conclusion to the Sloan family saga, with Caleb, the last Sloan brother, finally finding his happily-ever-after. Book Title: Lost Beneath the Tide

Caught between love and hate on the foggy shores of Nova Scotia, an uncompromising environmentalist must choose what is truly worth saving.

Cat Silva loves broiled salmon as much as the next person. But the quirky marine biologist doesn’t like how fish farming pollutes the ocean. So, leaving the big city and her overbearing momma behind, she heads off to Tide Harbor, Nova Scotia, to prove her point.

Single dad, Alex Harris, is in line for the lucrative head security position at Cowling Fish Farms. But when Cat’s investigation turns deadly, Alex must decide between pursuing his dream of financial security or facing down his fears and risking everything for the woman he and his daughter have come to love.

Author Bio. Award-winning author Zara West loves all things mysterious, adventurous, and heart-stopping as long as they lead to true love. Born in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, Zara West spends winters in New York, where the streets hum with life, summers in the Maritimes, where the sea meets the shore, and the rest of the year anywhere inspiration for tales of adventure and love is plentiful. In a life full of misadventures, she has had sunstroke on the top of a Greek mountain and been partially trampled by a herd of four hundred sheep. And while she has never been kidnapped, she has been marooned on an uninhabited island in the middle of the Canadian wilderness for longer than she wants to remember. When not chasing after Greek shepherds or strolling along sand beaches searching for sea glass, Zara tends her organic herb garden, collects hats and cats, and whips up ethnic dishes for friends and family. An award-winning author of both fiction and non-fiction in the fields of ethnography, education, and the arts, Zara has published the award-winning romantic thriller series The Skin Quartet and Tide Harbor Suspense. She is also the author of the Write for Success writer’s craft books. Zara blogs about romance at Zara West Romance, about writing at Zara West’s Journal, and teaches numerous online writing courses.

#romanticsuspense #beachread #sweetromance

We asked Zara where her favorite three places to visit are, and why.
    1. Greece - My husband is a cultural anthropologist, and we were lucky to be able to carry out ethnographic research among the shepherds of Greece for many years. We lived in several small villages in the Peloponnesus and in Crete. The women we lived with taught me how to spin and weave the local wool and goat hair. This was the beginning of my lifelong love of weaving and the inspiration for my first writings. When I returned, I lectured widely and was asked to write articles about the weaving there. This led to my first publications on handloom design and weaving techniques. When, in later years, I turned to writing fiction, I incorporated my love of Greece into my Skin Quartet series. For a taste of Greek weaving, visit my website https://GreekWeaving.com
    2. Newfoundland - Many years ago, my husband and I spent our honeymoon camping and traveling to the Viking archaeological site in Newfoundland. At the time, the over two-hundred-mile trek to the northernmost tip was a dirt road, but the scenery was worth every pothole and bump. Giant icebergs floated down the Strait of Labrador, the beaches were covered in amazing driftwood, and the sunsets were the most brilliant I’ve ever seen. We were the only tourists at L'Anse aux Meadows and were fortunate to have a guided tour of the then-unreconstructed site by the son of the man who owned the land. It was June, and one downside was camping amid a myriad of blackflies and mosquitoes. At one point, my husband whacked a mosquito against the car windshield, shattering it. That led to a trip across Newfoundland to St. John for a repair. While there, I was interviewed by the local radio station about our trip, and we also got to see the Portuguese “White Fleet” with its square riggers and its dories stacked up on deck. The finale of the trip was two weeks camping in the wilderness on Beothuk Lake. We chose an island (the one I was abandoned on for too long) and enjoyed the stillness and beauty around us. I have traveled widely, but our stay in Newfoundland will always be the most perfect trip I have ever taken.
    3. Nova Scotia - My husband’s family has deep ties to Nova Scotia, so it was natural for us to settle into a cottage on the sea after I retired from teaching. This is where I do my writing, surrounded by the sea, the pines, the cry of the seagulls, and the resident deer herd. My writing studio looks directly out at the sea. Instead of cars zooming past, I watch the fishermen heading out to sea. Needless to say, my Tide Harbor Suspense series is inspired by the people and lifestyle of those who live by the sea. Moments On Film - A Newport Christmas

A Newport Christmas
Hallmark
Starring: Ginna Claire Mason & Wes Brown

Enchanting and heartfelt. A holiday romance that proves love is timeless.

A Newport Christmas blends romance, history, and a touch of fantasy into a holiday tale that feels both fresh and timeless. When a spirited early 20th-century socialite defies her parents’ wishes and makes a wish under the stars, a comet sends her forward in time to 2025. Torn between returning to her own era and exploring the possibilities of a new life, she discovers that love can transcend centuries.

This film is a standout among Hallmark’s holiday lineup. Ginna Claire Mason brings grace and charm to her role, capturing the spirit of a woman caught between tradition and independence. Monday Mood - Tender Misdemeanors

Are you in the mood for a forest standoff that sparks more than just conflict? When law and outlaw collide, survival might depend on trust—and something deeper. We've got the book for you! Tender Misdemeanors by Alana Lorens.

Book Title: Tender Misdemeanors

Release Date: March 2020

Teaser: If Caryn were to be true to her oath, she had to prosecute this case to the fullest extent-- No matter what I think about Levi Bradshaw as a man.

They can’t help falling in love—but should the cost be murder?

Caryn Orlane has law enforcement in her blood; her father was a cop, and his father, too. She's a federal agent in northwest Montana, protecting the old forests and keeping the peace.

Levi Bradshaw also believes in protecting the forests, but has a very different MO. He's the leader of a group of eco-warriors, determined to save the trees of the Bitterroot by legal—and illegal—means.

When they meet in the woods at gunpoint, their encounter ignites a spark of interest, despite operating on opposite sides of the law. When their worlds turn on them, they only grow closer. If they don’t work together, can either survive?

Author Bio. Alana Lorens has been a published writer for more than forty years. Currently a resident of Asheville, North Carolina, she loves her time in the smoky blue mountains. One of her novellas, That Girl’s The One I Love, is set in the city of Asheville during the old Bele Chere festival. She lives with her daughter, who is the youngest of her seven children, three crotchety cats, and four kittens of various ages.

#romanticsuspense #ecotagers #womanindanger

We asked Alana where are her favorite three places to visit - and why?
Alana:  I love the Florida Keys and Key West. I was lucky enough to live in south Florida for a dozen years and our weekend trips often included those pristine beaches and turquoise waters. I also honeymooned in Key West—which became the setting for a historical romance I wrote, Prophecies and Promises. I lived in Missoula, Montana for a short time, but the northwest Montana mountains and forests fixed themselves in my soul. Tender Misdemeanors is set there, as are several urban fantasy books by my alter ego Lyndi Alexander. The air is pure, crystal cold on winter days, which is why I don’t live there. It can be winter from Labor Day though Memorial Day---too cold for me!! The other place I love is anywhere my children are—I love visiting them and the grandchildren, and anywhere they are can be “home” for me.

Behind The Words with Tena Stetler

I'm happy to welcome a special guest today, an author I’ve had the pleasure of knowing for many years since our time with the same publisher. Renowned for her captivating paranormal romance novels, she has a gift for weaving stories that keep readers turning the pages late into the night. Beyond her talent for storytelling, she shares my love of animals, which shines through in the warmth and compassion she brings to her work and her life.

Tena reached a major milestone with her debut novel, A Demon’s Witch, published September 25, 2015. By the end of that year, it had hit the bestseller list. The novel also gained several awards from The Paranormal Romance Guild and The Romance Reviews, just to name a few.

Let's get to know more about the author behind the words...
BEHIND THE WORDS

Writing Journey

1. When did you first realize you wanted to be a writer?
I began writing stories as soon as I could hold a pencil. I wrote stories for my friend's birthdays, and Christmas. I continued to write stories most of my life.

2. What was the first piece you wrote that made you feel like a writer?
A Demon’s Witch. I couldn’t believe it when I received the email from The Wild Rose that offered me a contract.

Writing Routine

1. What does a typical writing day look like for you?
Things have changed since my husband retired. But usually I spend the first two hours of my day on promo, answering emails, etc. Then I write for a few hours, lunch, then an addition 3-4 hours writing.

2. Do you have any writing rituals or habits?
Right after breakfast I retreat to my writing cave. I firmly believe that you train your brain to be creative when you sit down to the computer at the same time each day and write. If you snatch times to write during your day, getting your computer or pad and pen out can have the same training effect.

Tools & Environment

1. Are there any tools, books, or apps you rely on for your writing?
I have the Angela Ackerman and Becca Publisi series that I turn to when I get stuck.

2. Describe your writing space.
I have my writing cave all set up (small office). Two screens, two computers, a tiny purple dragon and a gryphon figurine that sits below my main screen. Dragons and fairies, and all my book shelves all keep me company.
(Tena's writing cave.)

Motivation & Creativity

1. How do you balance writing with the demands of everyday life?
Lately it’s been difficult. My husband retired and we left on an RV adventure for 3 months. Preparing for that and returning took a lot more time than I anticipated. But it was a blast. Before that I wrote first then took care of the other things that demanded my time.

2. Do you ever dream about storylines or characters?
Oh all the time. A lot of my books came from dreams, others came from activities such as camping, road trips, sometimes headlines.

Personal Connection

1. Has writing ever helped you process something difficult in your life?
Writing takes me to that special place where I’m immersed in my stories rather than dealing with real life.

2. Has there ever been a moment when a real-life event clicked into place as a story idea?
Yes, in Charm Me. It was born from a puppy class I took and a yoga instructor who was also attending the class, and our discussions outside of class.

Publishing & Career

1. What was the most surprising part of the publishing process?
How hard it was. The competition, and changing landscape.

2. Has being a published author changed the way you write or approach storytelling?
Not really.

Audience

1. Have readers ever interpreted your work in a way that surprised you?
Yes. One reader said the A Demon’s Witch was a political thriller. I still haven’t figured that one out.

2. What advice would you give to aspiring writers?
Write from the heart. Write what you know. Do your research. Enjoy the process.

Reflections

1. How has your writing style or voice evolved over time?
I don’t think my style or voice has changed, but my ability to write different genres has evolved. I guess more confidence that I can do what I set my mind to.

2. What does success look like for you as an author?
Writing novels that my readers enjoy and receive awards and good reviews.

The author behind the words.

1. If your life were a novel, what would the title be?

Inspiration
1. What inspired the idea or theme behind this book?
A few years ago, I attended a writing conference. I had lunch with an individual from a publishing house. She was a hoot and talked about her father who was the chief of police for a small town. Growing up in that small town she knew everybody’s business more than most, being the chief’s daughter. Nothing really bad ever happened in her town. Our conversation got me to thinking, which is always a dangerous thing. (lol) What if the police chief of thirty-five years retired? What if his replacement succumbed to an untimely death in that tiny town that never saw much crime, let alone a violent murder? What if the retired police chief’s daughter left the CIA for a quiet life only to become mixed up in the investigation? The what-ifs went on and on. I made notes and stored them on my computer. As it turned out, when I arrived home from the conference, an email awaited me. The book, my debut novel, A Demon’s Witch, I was pitching at that conference was contracted by another house, The Wild Rose Press, which has since published eighteen of my books and counting. In my excitement, the file was completely forgotten. Years later, I came across the file and reviewed it. Security Force of Two was born. I keep thinking, someday I should drop the individual an email and let her know our conversation inspired my new release. Then again, maybe not. (lol)

Structure
1. Did you plot out the story of this book, or write as the story came to you?
I can’t plot my way out of a paperbag. I am a punster. The story unfolds as the characters direct me.

Reader Experience
1. What message do you hope readers take away from reading this book?
That friends and family are the most important people in your life, as well as be true to yourself and beliefs.

FINAL THOUGHTS

1. If writing super-powers existed, what super-power would you want?
Speed and creativity.

2. What one thing would readers be surprised to learn about you?
I was a DJ for a classic rock radio station for a couple of years.

3. Where do you hope to see your writing career in five years?
On the New York Times Best Seller list.

4. What do you like most about being a writer?
Creating stories for people to enjoy. Take them away from their ordinary words and into a fantasy world they may never want to leave.

5. What do you like least about being a writer?
Trolls. People that must cut down others to make themselves feel better. Well, I guess you find that in any walk of life or occupation.

We asked Rachelle, what are your three favorite songs - and why?
My three favorite songs are all Christmas carols: Silver Bells, Let it Snow! Let it Snow! Let it Snow!, Jingle Bells. I especially love to listen to Dean Martin and Frank Sinatra sing these songs. I’m instantly transported to my very best holiday memories.
