Between The Pages - A Small Town Fourth of July

A Small Town Fourth of July
Janice Carter
June 2024

His return sets off fireworks…

But will it blow up her dreams?

When Theo Danby returns to Maple Glen to sell his inherited land, Maura Stuart panics. Selling the land could endanger Maura’s beloved donkey therapy business…and expose her secrets. Her only hope is to rope Theo into helping with the Fourth of July festival and make Theo fall in love with their small town. But if she trusts him with the truth, will he stay…or will she lose everything?

Between The Pages
A Small Town Fourth of July is the first book in the Home to Maple Glen series and was indeed a heartwarming read. There was a great cast of characters, including the donkeys. Theo and Maura had a lot going on individually. Theo wants to reconnect with his son and sell his family home, and Maura’s focus is on saving her donkey therapy business. Their attraction from the past is soon rekindled. The twists of a loan and a festival made this book an interesting and enjoyable read filled with family drama, a sweet romance, and adorable donkeys. Looking forward to revisiting Maple Glen.

Between the Pages - The Officer’s Dilemma

The Officer’s Dilemma
Janice Carter
December 2022

An impossible choice…

Or a new adventure together?

Zanna Winters has five months to plan the rest of her life—including the impossible choice of whether to leave Lighthouse Cove and her family’s hotel behind. Unfortunately, Naval Officer Dominic Kennedy’s return to their small town is complicating that plan. Because now Zanna must tell Dominic the truth: they’re having a baby. Neither planned for a life in Lighthouse Cove…but is love enough to bring two wandering hearts home for good?

Between The Pages
This book was a sweet romance, and perfect for reading during the holidays. The author’s writing voice draws you into the story, which has an interesting plot containing several twists. There is plenty of drama between the main characters as well as the secondary cast. It was fun returning to Lighthouse Cove to catch up on previous characters and to see the development of the town. Dominic was a great leading hero. Does he sail away and leave behind the woman of his dreams and his baby? I recommend reading this delightful book to find out.

Between The Pages - The Christmas Promise

The Christmas Promise
Janice Carter
January 2021

The Christmas season...

Is perfect for new beginnings

After a tragedy seventeen years ago, author Ella Jacobs never wanted to come back to Lighthouse Cove. Not to the whispered rumors, the judgment or even to Ben Winters, the boy she loved. Now she's returned in time for Christmas--and some much-needed closure. But old flames burn bright. Can Ella find her way back to Ben...or will the secrets of their past extinguish their love for good?

Between The Pages
An emotional second chance journey. I anxiously awaited a return to Lighthouse Cove, especially to read more about Ella and Ben. Ella took the brunt of the blame for the accident that happened seventeen years ago, which made for an emotional read. Ben is such a likable character and he deserves a happy-ever-after. A surprising bonus was the reveal of the person leaving flowers near the lighthouse. The writing is smooth and the plot is enjoyable. It was fun to revisit this quaint town and to see how the characters have grown as well as the town. Walking through Lighthouse Cove with the snow on the ground and the magical season of Christmas is a walk/read worth taking.

Between The Pages - His Saving Grace

His Saving Grace
Janice Carter
August 2020

She’s ready to make amends…

But can he forgive her past?

A rash decision Grace Winters made as a teenager had tragic consequences. Now she is back in Lighthouse Cove and desperate to fix things, but Coast Guard officer Drew Spencer seems intent on spoiling her plans. As she works to change Drew’s mind, Grace realizes she’s falling for him—especially after Drew reveals his heartbreaking past. But she’s not sure how he’ll feel once she reveals hers.

Between The Pages
This heartwarming romance has a beautiful, picturesque setting. The story line is well crafted around a disaster from the past. But the plot grows the story to the future and into the lives of the people who suffered back then and how they are coping with the loss of a family member. Grace and Drew have a lot standing between them and not just a lighthouse, but secrets they both hold close. Their relationship is tender and sweet, making you root for their happy ending. There’s an equally good cast. Henry Jenkins was my favourite secondary character. But there’s more to come in Lighthouse Cove. Grace’s brother has a story to tell, and a mysterious person is leaving flowers at the lighthouse as a memorial. I am looking forward to a return trip to Lighthouse Cove.

Between The Pages - Her Kind of Hero

Her Kind of Hero
Janice Carter
July 2019

He saved her life…

But he’s not the hero she expects.

Dana Sothern has finally found the man who rescued her as a teen. But when she tries to thank Matt Rodriguez, instead he challenges her to volunteer at his youth camp. The experience brings Matt and Dana closer. But away from the camp, the reformed bad boy’s and the corporate lawyer’s worlds are far apart. Can they bridge the gap between them?

Between The Pages
This story is packed with emotion. The instant you learn about Dana’s past connection to Matt has you hooked. Their chemistry is undeniable. Matt is a strong hero. He’s making a difference in kids’ lives that need a caring and guiding hand, and his relationship with his mother and sister is touching. Dana has grown into an independent woman, but seeing her unease and growth at the camp, makes her character fun to get to know. The cast is enjoyable from Matt’s family to his coworkers at the camp. This is a feel-good story with secrets, family drama, romance, and plenty of heart warming moments. A page-turner right to the very end!
