Between The Pages - Hazardous Hideaway

Hazardous Hideaway
By Cindy A. Christiansen
February 2012

Riding a bucking bronco would be easier than the ride Dallas Mae Jenkins is on. While escaping an abusive relationship, she ends up in a wreck and stranded at a remote dairy in Utah. Worse yet, the presence of her horse stirs up memories of an old town murder, and Dallas finds herself in serious danger. The last thing Tom Allred needs is a wily female working at his dairy, especially one dragging up a murder he was accused of committing. Will Tom’s antacids hold out until he can get rid of Dallas? Or, will she lasso his heart?

Between the Pages of this story is an exciting and suspenseful romance story that will keep you on the edge of your seat. As someone that is from a smaller town in Wisconsin, I loved the setting of this story. I fell in love with the main characters right from the start and found myself rooting for Dallas and Tom. The author did a great job of weaving plot turns and twists into this love story. This one kept me up way past my bedtime because I couldn’t put it down. If you like a suspenseful romance, Hazardous Hideaway is definitely for you!

Between The Pages - Second Chance Love

Second Chance Love
By Jennifer Labelle
November 2011

Goody, goody Teegan Hallowell was tired of being teased for following the rules. So, when her brother’s sexy friend shows an interest, she rebels, and learns all about the good kind of bad. Now ten years later, Teegan returns home to escape a horrible mistake, but wonders if she’s made an even bigger one by returning. There was a reason she left Digby, when her dreams shattered and the man she loved betrayed her. So when she realizes she’s still in love with him, matters become complicated when he reveals her reason for leaving him was all in vain.

This is a pleasantly put together story about a second chance for Love. Ms. LaBelle created two dynamic characters, Teegan and Liam, who met as teenagers through the heroine’s brother, established a relationship and absolutely adored each other. A thirst for our heroine to make something of herself caused her to leave town, separating the couple and forcing Liam to go on with his own life. Teegan finds that the grass isn’t always greener on the other side of the fence and she comes home to mend all the hurt she’d endured while gone. I’m a sucker for second chances and what I loved in this story is that over the 10 years they were apart, Liam never lost the love he had for Teegan even though he’d moved on after she left. Liam is a great hero, a great single dad and unbelievably patient because he knows what he wants and he fights for it. I also liked the suspense of Teegan’s not-so-nice ex stepping in to wreak some havoc. It was clear Liam would do anything necessary to make sure he didn’t lose her again. After a near death experience, it was obvious Teegan knew where she belonged and who loved her. You won’t be disappointed if you choose to read this great second chance love story !

Between The Pages - Don't Look Back Agnes

Don’t Look Back Agnes/
In This House
By Kathryn Meyer Griffith
July 2012

Don't Look Back Agnes: Agnes Michaels is coming home. Home to her childhood town of Fairfield and the house her father lovingly built for her mother. A house surrounded by the woods where Agnes' two childhood friends and her boyfriend were all murdered twenty summers ago when she was just seventeen. Agnes can no longer avoid her destiny. Because the killings have begun again and she's the only one who can stop them.

Between the Pages of this novel is definitely the kind of story that keeps you on edge the entire read. Two things I’d like to say right off…I loved this cover and wow the first paragraph creeped me out! I love ghost stories and I’m a sucker for a great romance and this has both. I can really feel the fear in Agnes as she jumps from her car and races to the front door as quickly as possible. Dark and creepy woods...I probably wouldn’t have gotten out of the car. Ms. Griffith does a fantastic job of weaving in the mystery and tells a story you can’t pull yourself away from. I also very much enjoyed how Ms. Griffith allowed Agnes to come to terms with the horror of her childhood, saying goodbye to lost love and also giving her the ability to look toward a bright new future and even  maybe a new love.
In addition, this book also had an added story at the end called In This House. I don’t want to give anything away, but what an amazing love story! I cried when I got to the very end. I’m guessing my parents are in the same age range as Bernard and Althea and it definitely made me stop and think how I live my life and how much I miss seeing my parents on a daily basis with living so far away from them.
Don’t miss another great book by mystery author Katherine Meyer Griffith!

Between The Pages - Eloping with Emmy

Eloping with Emmy
By Liz Fielding
May 2012

Hot shot legal eagle, Tom Brodie, has been landed with an assignment to test any man to his limits - do whatever it takes to prevent headstrong heiress Emerald Carlisle from marrying a fortune-hunter. He is not happy about it, and when Emmy stows away in his car, his day goes from bad to worse, but since she's the only one who knows where to find the man in question he has no choice but take her along for the ride.

It's a bumpy one!

Emmy is not a woman to sit back and let things fall as they will. She has a plan and she keeps Brodie on his toes in a rollercoaster chase across the UK and France. He's more than up to the challenge, but falling in love with Emmy along the way is always going to end with his heart in pieces.

Between the Pages of this story proves that opposites attract. The well-developed characters, the seamless plot that places you in the story, and the humor make this story a delightful read. There are twists you don’t expect, but enjoy as you read along. I knew as soon as Emmy hid in Brodie’s car this story was going to be a wild ride! A perfect weekend read!
