Mending The Doctor's Heart

Mending The Doctor’s Heart
Sophia Sasson
January 2017

She thought she could handle any disaster…

Responding to a tsunami on the tiny island of Guam should be a routine assignment for Dr. Anna Atao. From epidemics to earthquakes, she's treated patients in the most dangerous and remote places on earth. Except Anna hasn't been back to Guam since a tragedy there tore her life apart—and she left behind the man she loved. Seeing Nico brings back all the pain and joy of their time together, but Anna knows he'll never leave the island. And once her deployment ends, she plans to catch the first helicopter back to the mainland. Anna may be an expert in survival, but without Nico, can she ever truly heal?

Between The Pages
This story is filled with heartache and emotion. The author’s smooth writing voice draws you in with the first chapter. Anna’s journey in Guam is filled with loss, regret, and recovery. The setting is sad yet engrossing where the action takes places, but once you step away from the hospital, the setting soon becomes beautiful through the eyes of Anna and Nico. Interesting secondary characters also make this read enjoyable. This is the second book in the State of the Union series, and I’m hoping Lieutenant Luke Williams gets his own story in the series.

The Senator's Daughter

The Senator’s Daughter
Sophia Sasson
September 2016

He can play the game, but she'll make the rules.

Political science professor Kat Driscoll will not be "handled" by anyone. Certainly not by Alex Santiago, the suave, savvy and handsome campaign manager for Senator Roberts, the man recently revealed to be her father. Alex clearly sees the sudden revelation of his candidate's long-lost daughter as an unfortunate glitch in their race for reelection. One that needs to be carefully spun and managed. But Kat isn't about to play along, or comply with Alex's ridiculous attempts to make her more media friendly. He'll have to deal with the real Kat. And maybe, in the process, she can discover the real Alex…

Between The Pages
This story is a romance based in a political setting, but the emotions the author brings out in her characters is the highlight of the story. The opening pages throw you into the book. Kat has overcome some bumps in her past, but now she has to deal with a media scandal, her newfound connection to the senator, and a growing attraction to Alex. The plot tackles some poignant issues and has a few scenes that are emotionally captivating. Written with a smooth and steady pace, this story will hold your interest. I’m looking forward to reading the next book in the State of the Union series where we learn more about Dr. Anna Atao.
